Frequently Asked Questions - Potential Parent Coaches

Can I really make money being a parent coach?

Yes, as long as you have a drive succeed and genuinely want to make a difference in parents' lives. The coaches who make money are those who tell as many people as possible about what they do and how they can help them.

The Coach-Parenting License will give you the materials, workshops, and tips you need to get your name out there and tell people about who you are and what you do.

Why do parent coach training programs vary so widely in cost, length of training, and focus of training?

Each parent coach certification program has its own focus, which effects the cost of the program and the length of training. The Coach-Parenting Certified Coach Training program is designed for people who already have experience in parenting or a related field, and is focused solely on teaching you how to coach people through their parenting issues.

Our program does not focus on areas such as brain development, nor does it attempt to train people with no experience. This is why the Coach-Parenting Certified Coach Training program is inexpensive and can be completed in a short period of time.

How do I get parents to turn to me when they need assistance in their day-to-day parenting?

The answer to this question varies from parent to parent. Coach-Parenting has found, however, that the majority of parents want to know that you have experience in the field of parenting or families, or in a related field such as education; and they want to know that you've had training before they will look to you for help. In addition, parents want to know exactly how you are going to help them before they will agree to pay you for your services.

Coach-Parenting will give you the training you need and the tools to show parents what you will do to help them.

I'd like to have a certificate showing that I am a certified parent coach. Does Coach-Parenting offer this?

Yes. Upon completion of the Coach-Parenting Certified Coach Training (included in all of the Become a Parent Coach packages), you will receive an e-mail with instructions on how to request a paper certificate. Each certificate provided is $5 plus shipping.

What does my city, state, province, and/or country require for me to work as a parent coach?

The requirements to work as a parent coach varies. There are many states, provinces, and areas where there are no requirement other than obtaining a business license. However, Coach-Parenting urges you to check with the proper governing bodies in your area, such as the Department of Health and the Department of Licensing.

Is the Coach-Parenting training program certified by the International Coach Federation (ICF)?

The ICF certifies coach training programs based on its own set of criteria, many of which pertain to training people to coach individuals in many areas. Because the Coach-Parenting Certified Coach Training program is focused solely on teaching you how to coach individuals in their parenting, we have not pursued ICF certification for our program.

What is the difference between being certified by Coach-Parenting and receiving a Coach-Parenting license?

A Coach-Parenting Certified Parent Coach has completed the Coach-Parenting Certified Coach Training program and knows how to use the Coach-Parenting method to coach parents through their parenting issues. A Coach-Parenting Licensed coach has purchased an intellectual property license that allows him or her to use the copyrighted Coach-Parenting tools, methods, and materials in their practice.
